The veterinarian treats the animals entrusted to him or her, regardless of the species. These animals are often pets or livestock and production animals, but also equines, exotic animals or wildlife.

In rural areas, he or she accompanies and advises farmers in animal production on a daily basis, thus contributing to the maintenance of our country's demanding level of sanitary security against animal epidemics and zoonoses.

He or she works closely with the food industry to guarantee public health and French food sovereignty.

The preservation of biodiversity and the health of ecosystems can also be part of his or her missions.

What about research?

Research activities are in the fields of veterinary public health, animal health and food quality and safety. They are based on three axes:

  • basic veterinary sciences in veterinary public health and animal health;   
  • veterinary clinical research at the Centre Hospitalier de l'École Vétérinaire (CHEV) and semi-distributed clinical partners;   
  • translational veterinary research at the interface of basic and clinical veterinary research.

They integrate data management (big data / data mining) and artificial intelligence (deep learning) applied to veterinary sciences. The study of human and social components, which are crucial for the transformation of systems throughout the value chains, also benefits from the scientific ecosystem of the UniLaSalle group.
