An international course centered on industrial projects and field practice, in the service of reasoned, sustainable and environmentally friendly exploitation of mineral resources.

The challenges of mineral resources

In a world with growing and increasingly diversified needs for mineral resources, ranging from food to energy transitions, technological innovations, health and of course the industrial and construction sectors, the training of immediately operational talents is paramount.

Combining geological, geophysical, analytical and numerical knowledge and skills, the engineers will be able to contribute significantly to the efficient, responsible and sustainable exploration/exploitation of mineral resources.

These engineers will also have the skills to participate in innovations in functional geomaterials that meet the needs of tomorrow's cities and societies.

Targeted degree: Geosciences and Environment Engineer

Campus : Beauvais

Language of instruction: French / English

Modality: with student status (4th and 5th year) or with apprentice status (5th year only)

Details of the courses

Subsurface DATA Major

The major corresponds to the specific teachings of the course. It consists of course sequences and projects.

  • Direct sampling and analytical methods in resource geology
  • Indirect methods of subsurface analysis in resource geology (geophysics)
  • Project: Thesis of Initiation to Research 1

Minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.

The proposed minors

Block 1: Characterization of raw and secondary mineral materials / Automated data processing : Python programming and Numerical methods, Python and advanced methods / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Innovate, undertake and combat creaticide attitudes

Block 2 : Advanced Spatial Analysis : Advanced spatial data processing (remote sensing, Python automation, 3D, Data Model, Webcasting) on ArcGIS / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Consolidate your level of English - Validate the required level

Sustainable Mineral Resource Production and Recycling Major

  • Sustainable Mineral Resource Production
  • Numerical and analogical modeling of sustainable mineral resources
  • Project: Research Initiation Thesis 2

Minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.

The proposed minors

Block 1: Exploration and Prospective in Sustainable Mineral Resources / Scientific Approach - Research - Intermediate / Introduction to the Web: Developing an Internet site / Sales techniques and commercial relations / Project Management: From forecasting to agile

Block 2: Management field and application in sustainable mineral resources and hydrogeology / 3D Modeling: Design of 3D parts on Dassault System solutions and 3D printing / Entrepreneurship in immersion and design thinking / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate

In semester 9, you can orient your course according to your desires, by choosing among :

  • one or more opening majors, designed to broaden your skills towards another field (subject to change):
    • Digital applied to geosciences (Beauvais campus)
    • QHSE, CSR, Risk manager (Beauvais campus)
    • Intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship and innovation (Beauvais campus)
  • a semester, a double degree or a degree-granting stay in France or abroad (from 12 to 18 months for a double degree or a degree-granting stay)

The end-of-studies project is based on an internship in a company or a research internship for students, or on the long period in a company for students following an apprenticeship program.

It leads to the writing of a thesis and an oral presentation.

What careers are there after the Sustainable Mineral Resources program?

The Sustainable Mineral Resources program allows students to work in mining exploration, the extractive mineral industry, the characterization and transformation of mineral raw materials, the recycling and valorization of mineral waste and excavated earth, and research and development.
