The arrival of the very first class of veterinary students and the stability of the number of students on all 4 UniLaSalle campuses are the two most important pieces of information for the start of the 2022 academic year.

There will be 4,170 students starting the new school year on a UniLaSalle campus in the coming weeks, i.e. about fifty more than last year. Behind this slight increase in numbers lies a major first: the arrival of the first 100 veterinary students on the Rouen campus.

Here is an update on a historic start to the 2022 academic year for UniLaSalle.

Rouen campus: a great first for veterinary students

This Monday, August 29, is a milestone for the UniLaSalle Rouen campus. That morning, the Rouen establishment welcomed the first 100 students of its brand new veterinary school.

After a studious summer, during which they were able to prepare themselves for the demands and pace of work of the vet school thanks to a digital vacation notebook offered by the Department of Pedagogical Innovation and the veterinary school, the students sat down for the first time on the benches of the amphitheatre to attend a welcome speech. The rest of the week was devoted to their integration into the campus, alongside the engineering students.

The veterinarians join the Agronomy and Agro-industries engineering students, the international students in the Agro and Food Engineering program (Agronomy and Agro-industries engineering training in English), the Bachelor in Sales Engineering for Animal Nutrition, the Master Biosciences, Agrosciences, Ecoproduction, Plant Biotechnologies and Biovalorization, the Advanced Master in Food Marketing, Communication and Engineering, the Master of Science in Agricultural and Food Data Management and the Master of Science in Urban Agriculture and Green Cities.

With 551 students, the Normandy campus will maintain its enrollment in 2022-2023.

Rennes campus: a strong interest in environmental sciences

At UniLaSalle Rennes, students' growing interest in environmental issues is confirmed. The Breton campus, which offers a Master program, a Bachelor's degree, a specialized Master's degree and a Master of Science, all dedicated to environmental professions, is welcoming a total of 653 students for the 2022-2023 year.

While the school attracts a majority of students from the northwestern quarter of France, some of them have travelled further to join UniLaSalle Rennes. This is the case of Cyprien, who came from Pau with his mother Charlotte. "The welcome is very warm and attention is given to everyone, students and parents alike. I notice that the school really takes into consideration both the learning aspect and the human aspect: taking care of oneself and others. You can feel the desire to get involved and to get students involved in society to make things happen. I was quite touched by this," said Charlotte, her mother, who was very enthusiastic about this first day of school.

Beauvais campus: back to normal for integration

The 328 first-year engineering students at the Beauvais campus also returned to school on Tuesday, August 30. Accompanied by their families, the students were able to attend the welcome address by the General Management and the teaching team. Emphasis was placed on UniLaSalle's differentiating features (its Lasallian educational project, its commitment to sustainable development, the interdisciplinarity of its four campuses): "You are concerned with all these dimensions, so don't hesitate to innovate with us," encouraged Valérie Leroux, Associate General Director

The richness of student life, which can count on a hundred or so associations on the Beauvais campus, was also emphasized by Jérôme Colin, Director of the Educational Mission and Student Life, who invited the new students to make the campus their own: "the campus is not a place to be consumed but a place of life that belongs to you, that belongs to us."

The first-year students then went on to the traditional integration week, where they were able to participate in activities organized by the second- and fifth-year students on campus and in the city. This was a "return to normal" after two consecutive years marked by health restrictions linked to Covid.

All courses combined (engineers, bachelors, masters), the campus will have 2336 students for this academic year 2022-2023.

Amiens campus: a festive 30th academic year

On Thursday, September 1, it was the turn of first- and second-year engineering students in the Energy and Digital programs to begin the new school year in the "saucer", the nickname given to the emblematic building on the Amiens campus. The other classes quickly followed, bringing the total number of students to 629 for the 2022-2023 year.

This year will be one of festivities, as the school in Amiens will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Saturday, October 15. Students, alumni and staff members will be gathered for a big day of reunion at its emblematic campus on the banks of the Somme. This will be an opportunity for the older students to rediscover the changes that have taken place on this campus, from ESIEE-Amiens to UniLaSalle Amiens.
