This career path provides training in the management, treatment and recovery of waste, water, air, polluted sites and soils... not forgetting to check the eco-efficiency of the processes proposed.

The challenges of eco-efficiency and water, air and waste treatment

The Treatment Technology and Eco-Efficiency pathway meets three major challenges:

  • Develop and optimize management and treatment processes for industrial companies and local authorities in the management of their effluents (waste, water, air, sites and soils).
  • Analyze and diagnose pollution, acquire pollution treatment tools, propose innovative prevention and treatment solutions within a given regulatory context.
  • Study the ecological impact of pollution and treatment processes, and preserve and restore ecosystems.

Diploma sought: Master degree in Environmental Engineering

Campus : Rennes

Language of instruction: French

Status: student (4th and 5th year) or apprentice (5th year only)

Course details

Environmental Engineering Tools and Methods Major

  • Regulatory context
  • Diagnosis and analysis

minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that enable students to complete their training in a related field.

The proposed minors

Block 1: Biotechnologies (bioprocesses and environmental microbiology) / Research and development in environmental sciences / Energy efficiency in industrial processes / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner

Block 2: Geographic Information System (GIS) / Polymer life cycle / Environmental Authorization Dossier / Scientific approach - Research - Beginner / Consolidate English skills

Environmental Engineering and Technology Major

  • Pollution treatment
  • Prevention, re-use and innovation

minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to the minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary teaching, enabling students to complete their training in a related field.

The Project Management minor is offered on the Beauvais campus, and requires on-site travel (the others can be taken by distance learning).

Some examples of minor courses

Block 1: Laboratory tools for ecotoxicological evaluation / Entrepreneurship / Basics and fundamentals of LCA / Project management: from forecast to agile / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate / Working and communicating in a French-speaking environment / The multilingual engineer - international professional insertion / Energy sustainability in farms

Block 2: Evaluating and anticipating the impacts of human activities on territories using modeling approaches / Field diagnostics in spring / Research and development in environmental sciences / Scientific approach - Research - Intermediate / Consolidate your level of English

In semester 9, you can choose to follow your own path, by selecting from :

  • the main major of the Treatment Technologies and Eco-efficiency pathway, which takes a more in-depth look at this field: Ecological Engineering
  • one or more opening majors, designed to broaden your skills in another field:
    • CSR/RSO - Changing behaviors (Rennes campus)
    • QHSE, CSR, Risk manager (Beauvais campus)
    • Production management and industrial performance (Beauvais campus)
    • Territories in transformation (Rennes campus)
    • Intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship and innovation (Beauvais campus)
  • a semester, a double degree or a degree-granting stay in France or abroad (from 12 to 18 months for a double degree or a degree-granting stay)

The final project is based on an in-company work placement or research placement for students, or on the long period spent in a company for apprentices.

A final dissertation is written and presented orally.
