From March 22 to 29, UniLaSalle was pleased to welcome 12 students and their professor from the University of Missouri for a unique immersion week focused on exploring French agriculture and rural areas. This visit marks the second edition of the program, following a successful initial collaboration in 2024.
Coming from a variety of academic backgrounds—Agribusiness Management, Nutrition and Exercise Physiology, Animal Sciences, Agriculture, Agricultural Education, and Plant Sciences—the participants took part in a customized program designed to provide them with a practical and comparative overview of today’s major agricultural challenges: sustainability, the environment, food quality, and innovation.
Throughout the week, the students gained extensive hands-on experience by meeting with key players in the agricultural sector. Livestock farms (horses, cattle, sheep), mixed-crop farms, and discussions with professionals: these provided ample opportunities to discover the diversity of French agricultural practices, understand farmers’ strategic choices, and explore the economic realities of the sector.
This immersive experience was further enriched by a strong cultural and historical dimension. The students visited the D-Day beaches in Normandy, historic landmarks and enduring symbols of Franco-American friendship. They also explored the traditional market in Gournay-en-Bray, as well as the Baie de Somme, through a guided tour highlighting the richness of this unique ecosystem in the Hauts-de-France region.

Cooperation between France and the United States
This program has also been recognized by the Hauts-de-France Region as part of France–U.S. cooperation, marking the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. This recognition is part of a call for projects aimed at identifying and promoting initiatives with an academic, scientific, cultural, or institutional dimension that contribute to strengthening ties between Hauts-de-France and the United States.
Through this program, UniLaSalle reaffirms its position as a key player in international education by offering immersive, high-value-added experiences that combine academic expertise, intercultural openness, and regional promotion.
