Students enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) program in Agronomy at the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences in Kiev will have the opportunity to continue their studies at UniLaSalle thanks to the signing of a dual degree agreement.
After three years at their Ukrainian institution, students enrolled in the BSc Agronomy program can join one of three English-language tracks offered as part of UniLaSalle's Agricultural Engineering and Agro-Industries program for two years:
- Farming for the Future (UniLaSalle Rouen), which teaches how to develop alternative, adaptive, and creative agriculture to meet the challenges of climate change;
- Sustainable Management and International Trade (UniLaSalle Rouen), which trains students to prepare companies in the agricultural and agri-food sectors for market challenges;
- Plant Breeding (UniLaSalle Beauvais), dedicated to plant breeding and improvement to respond to each climatic context and market requirements.
“The aim of this agreement is to facilitate degree-related mobility and thereby increase UniLaSalle's international appeal.”
Sebastian Rieder, Director of International Relations at UniLaSalle.
The signing of this dual degree agreement comes at a particularly difficult time for NULES, which is bearing the brunt of the combined effects of the war and the particularly harsh winter weather in Ukraine this year. Only a few hundred students (out of the more than 6,000 enrolled at the institution) are still on campus, and classes are currently being held online.
Stronger ties with Ukraine
Through this dual degree program, UniLaSalle confirms its support for Ukrainian higher education, particularly in the field of agriculture, an economic sector of particular importance in this country.
Last September, our Normandy campus welcomed a dozen students from the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences in Kiev thanks to the launch of a unique program funded by the Crédit Agricole Solidarité et Développement Foundation and its partners. This program covers all tuition and living expenses for Ukrainian students enrolled in the three participating agricultural engineering schools (including UniLaSalle).
As it was not possible to hold a face-to-face meeting, the agreement was signed online in the presence of Vadym Tkachuk, Rector of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences, and Philippe Choquet, Director General of UniLaSalle, demonstrating the strong symbolic significance of this partnership.
