The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) has announced its verdict: UniLaSalle's AAPG-EAGE Student Chapter is the best in Europe!
This distinction recognizes the dynamism of the team of geoscience students who run this Student Chapter. “We are very pleased that our motivation and the events we have organized throughout the year have been appreciated by the EAGE. We hope that this relationship of trust will continue,” said Laura Beudin, a geoscience and environmental engineering student at UniLaSalle Beauvais and president of the AAPG-EAGE Student Chapter.
Like the other Student Chapters recognized on their respective continents, the AAPG-EAGE Student Chapter at UniLaSalle was rewarded “for its exceptional commitment, creativity, and dedication to promoting the student community within the EAGE,” according to the EAGE. “Each of them stands out as a source of inspiration for their peers around the world.”
The quality of the actions carried out, the dynamism of the Student Chapter, its involvement with the EAGE, and its influence are the main criteria that led the EAGE to reward the Lasallian Student Chapter.
In 2024-2025, the AAPG-EAGE Student Chapter organized no fewer than five professional conferences and participated in the 86th EAGE Conference and Exhibition, held last June in Toulouse.

But what exactly is a Student Chapter?
A Student Chapter is the local branch of an international professional organization—for example, EAGE, IEEE, AAPG, etc.
It is a kind of student association affiliated with a large learned society, which allows students from an institution (often an engineering school or university) to:
- Create a local community around a scientific or technical field (geosciences, engineering, applied physics, etc.),
- Organize activities: conferences, workshops, company visits, technical competitions, etc.,
- Connect with professionals and researchers from the society's international network,
- Develop their communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
In short, a Student Chapter is a club for students who are passionate about a particular field, officially recognized by a global professional association such as the EAGE (European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers).
The AAPG-EAGE Student Chapter at UniLaSalle is therefore the local student branch of the EAGE. It brings the geoscience community to life on campus, while also being connected internationally through the EAGE.
