USEFUL ITEMS, PAY WHAT YOU WANT: SOLIDARITY BACK-TO-SCHOOL INITIATIVE COMES TO KER LANN – AN INITIATIVE BY HUMANIT’AIME, AN ASSOCIATION OF UNILASALLE RENNES

Following last year's success, Humanit'aime, the student association of UniLaSalle Rennes, in partnership with Rennes Métropole, repeated their initiative by organizing a pop-up resource center on the Ker Lann campus for the start of the 2025 academic year.

Set up in front of the Ker Lann campus university restaurant, the event attracted many students. School supplies, tableware, furniture, and books found new owners, providing students with everything they needed for the new academic year and to furnish their homes at a price of their choosing, while reducing waste.

A long-term project

This solidarity-based and eco-friendly initiative illustrates student commitment and confirms the relevance of the partnership with Rennes Métropole to encourage reuse.

The funds raised during the pay-what-you-want sale will be redistributed to the student associations involved, thereby supporting other student projects focused on solidarity and sustainable development.

More than just a resource center, a civic gesture

Beyond reuse, the pop-up resource center raises student awareness of the importance of giving objects a second life and reducing their ecological footprint. It also promotes mutual aid among students, in a context where the cost of student life remains a major concern. This approach concretely embodies the values of solidarity and environmental responsibility upheld by UniLaSalle Rennes and its partners.

Towards a sustainable initiative?

Given the enthusiasm generated by these first two editions, the idea of a regular resource center on campus is gaining ground. It would be a concrete solution to combat waste, promote the circular economy, and support students in their daily lives.

See you in December?!
