Mobilize tools and methods to innovate, produce references, support farmers and inform the decisions of public authorities and economic players.

The challenges of agronomic consulting

Agriculture must reduce its contribution to and sensitivity to climate change, biodiversity loss, market and political fluctuations, etc. The task of agronomists is to accompany these transitions.

Their training requires them to deepen their knowledge of the functioning of the agrosystem and to acquire the skills to :

  • conduct agronomic diagnoses and multi-criteria evaluations of cropping systems
  • co-design new systems
  • produce references through factorial or system experimentation, monitoring of plot networks, surveys, simulations, innovation tracking, etc.
  • conduct strategic farm diagnoses
  • to accompany individual or collective projects,
  • animate groups of farmers.

Targeted degree: MSc in Agronomy and Agro-industries

Campus : Beauvais

Language of instruction: French

Modality: with student status (4th and 5th year) or with apprentice status (5th year only)

Details of the courses

Agrosystems and cropping systems major

The major corresponds to the courses specific to the course. It consists of course sequences and projects.

  • In-depth studies: population genetics, physiology/ecophysiology, plants and communities, soil functioning
  • Methods and tools for producing references: factorial experimentation, modeling, simulation
  • Accompanying method: fall field trip

Minors

Each semester includes 2 blocks dedicated to minors, corresponding to 54 hours of complementary courses that allow students to complete their training in a related field.

In semester 9, you can choose your course of study according to your desires, by choosing among :

  • the main major of the Agronomic Consulting and Reference Production program, which goes into this field in greater depth: Agronomic Consulting and Reference Production (Beauvais campus)
  • one or more opening majors, designed to broaden your skills in another field:
    • Biotechnology and market (Rouen campus)
    • Ag and Food Business models (Rouen campus)
    • Sustainable Agri-Food systems in the world (Rouen campus)
    • Agriculture and society (Beauvais campus)
    • Purchasing and Supply chain (Beauvais campus)
    • Intrapreneurship, entrepreneurship and innovation (Beauvais campus)
  • a semester, a double degree or a degree-granting stay in France or abroad (from 12 to 18 months for a double degree or a degree-granting stay)

The end-of-studies project is based on an internship in a company or a research internship for students, or on the long period in a company for students following an apprenticeship program.

It leads to the writing of a thesis and an oral presentation.

What careers are there after the Agronomic Consulting and Reference Production program?

The Agronomic Consulting and Reference Production program allows students to work in the sectors of agricultural cooperatives, trade, agri-supply, professional agricultural organizations, consulting/services, agricultural production, and the agri-food industry.
